I'm going to briefly discuss two discoveries on my mind.
1) The Copyeditor's Handbook, I cannot recommend this enough even though I'm only a few pages in. I was looking to round out and add nuance to my skills in my editorial, gigging world. And I'm getting exactly what I want and need with this book. It's only increasing my security and confidence in my skillset. I recommend it to all established or aspiring proofreaders and copy editors. Find me on LinkedIn to learn more about what I do in this arena. And my long-planned How-To guide is coming soon...
2) SoundCloud just announced a new way of paying artists starting on Apr 1st. For awhile now, I've been pulling back from SoundCloud and am no longer uploading new music. I didn't feel like it was worth it to pay $12/mo to monetize my music when I wasn't really able to build a following on there easily. And why would I have folks listen to music on there for free when it's much more beneficial to direct them to a platform like YouTube where I can also raise the profile of my other songs. But I think I'm considering what it would look like to move closer to SoundCloud especially if other streaming services do not also shift to this more equitable model of paying artists. I think SoundCloud has always been more about indie artists than any other streaming platform...
There could be a BandCamp/SoundCloud resurgence coming back in my and other artists' lives...who knows!
